Oakland and other Bay Area Cities Implement Moratoriums on Evictions

On March 16, 2020, Governor Gavin Newsom issued an Executive Order in response to the Covid-19 pandemic that permitted local governments to pass ordinances which imposed substantive limitations on residential and commercial evictions of tenants affected by the pandemic. A number of cities, in short order, passed such ordinances.
